Meeting called to order at 6:33 pm. Invocation by Bill Zimmerman. Pledge led by R. Egland. Minutes read. Correction: the Open Season for FHBP extension for Active Carriers only.
R. Santavicca Communications: Bob/Pat Webber of Earth Angels. Bills list read. Three applications for membership: Martin Moon, Chris Riley and ? Mobley. One has already quit.
B. Solt Edu: 1/17/04 Training session by Bill Cooke’s office here at Br 78.
W. Rappaport Law: No report.
J. Levally Retirees: Thirty- four attended the Christmas Party. Bush has signed new Medicare bill. Sen. Kennedy has already submitted new legislative measures to amend it.
T. Snyder Safety: A private firm evaluates buildings for toxic conditions like asbestos. Discussed Individual Hygiene, yellow triangles in Black circles, dog postcards, mounted delivery cards regarding snow blocking boxes and mail curtailment. Safety meeting to be held quarterly, mandatory. The treaded rubbers were a one time USPS purchase. Chains are not to be installed in less than three inches of snow. No new orders placed cost too high.
Y. Miller Soc Rec: 2004 COESRA cards available, Stars on Ice tickets. Valentine Dinner Dance by Soc Rec Comm $35/couple $20/ind.

Tom Wilson offered last chance for tickets for ONT Buckeye quilt by Julie Newman. Monday is the last day to drop off toys. Ron Santavicca proposed motion for Doug Gulley for $1000. donation to United Way. Motion reviewed by Ex Bd, second by Tom Wilson. Motion passed. Andy questioned whether it was earmarked for a specific organization, goes to General Fund.
B. Pagano read proposed 2004 budget, second by Y. Miller. Budget accepted.
Good of the Association
Motion presented by Jack Levally for Br 78 to act as Steward for a grant proposal to build a wheelchair accessible playground at Maize Elementary,for severely disabled children. We would provide the manpower but no monies. We were asked because of our 501(c)Non profit status. They are requesting $50-100k, Located at 4360 Maize Rd, pre-school to fifth grade. Great opportunity for some positive press. Trust account would be set up separate from Branch funds. Question called for by Bob Solt. Motion passed.
Darren thanked Rocco for help with station problem. Andy inquired if problem at Short North had been resolved, it has not. NBA has gotten involved and it’s been moved up. Bob Kirk stated Gahanna managers have been taking flashlights out to carriers to finish in the dark. Raymond/Virginia White donated $100. to ONT. Gene Smith reported on Steve & Barry’s Sports Clothing in the River Valley Mall in Lancaster, deeply discounted clothing. Mark Beach, Central Point, new Steward presented and, won a grievance; Wendy Yonker and Ernie Windham, Oakland Park, fought two removals and got both back to work: Bob Solt won $10k award.
Bill Zimmerman drew ticket for Bobby LaBonte jacket won by Eastland station. Fred Smith conceived the idea that raised $1330. Tim Cummings from Marion won the autographed and framed Postal Cachet donated by Tom Wilson that raised $810. The Buckeye Quilt raised $300. won by Tom Wilson. All benefited ONT.
