February Branch Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order 7:03pm. Invocation by Brother Bill Zimmerman. Pledge of Allegiance led by Cathy Baer. Motion made and accepted to dispense with reading of January minutes.

Regular order of business suspended to hear State Association President, Tony Heitic. He discussed the Hyatt seminar and redistricting, the situation in Akron, and reminded everyone to give to COLCPE.

Communications: Ron read a Thank You note from the John Billman family. Application for membership – Dwight Brickey, M.F. Carter and Eli Turner.

Bills list read and accepted.

Education: President Sharp thanked everyone who participated in the Retirement seminar.

Law Committee: Nothing submitted.

Retirees: President Sharp thanked Brothers Dick Rappaport and Howard Henry for running the Retiree’s meeting.

Health Benefits: Nothing to Report.

Safety: Tony Snyder reported the meeting has been changed to the 4th Wednesday of the month. If you have an accident the Area Manager will have a talk with you. Will also check on washing of vehicles.

Social Rec: Nothing to Report.

Treasurers report read and accepted.

R.A.A. Doug Gulley spoke on the Hyatt reception, Contract negations, Rural Carrier contract, COLCPE, and Presidential budget.

Webmaster Trevor Payne reported that the website has Rural Carrier Contract details.

Unfinished Business: President Sharp reported the DC trip has been changed to April 30th and May 1st. Let Branch know by March meeting if you plan to go.

New Business: Ed Stewart made a motion to send President Sharp to Milwaukee for the C.O.P. (Conference of Presidents) April 6th – 8th at a cost of $554. Motion seconded and passed. President Sharp spoke on the C.O.P. and thanked the Branch for sending him.

Good of the Association: $20 donation for COLCPE from Delaware.

Improvement of Service: Ed Thomas discussed problems with his route.

Bob Kirk discussed bid cycle.

Jim Lockwood discussed timely promotions.

Doug Lawver discussed the MSP program, carriers being threatened with discipline. President Sharp will check on that.

John Slifko (Gahanna) threw his scanner at a dog.

Columbus Performance Cluster has a 94% efficient rating, Number 1 in the Nation, BPI team taking credit.

Ed Thomas, training Postal Inspectors at German Village station, hi-tech camera’s in the new stations. Every visitor must have a badge.

Bill Pagano made a motion to adjourn at 7:56pm. Motion carried. Raffle was $33. Bill won.
