January Branch Meeting
Meeting called to order at 7:01pm by President Chuck Sharp. Invocation by Brother Bill Zimmerman. Pledge led by Doug Gulley.
Jack LeVally on the road, Yana Miller read minutes from last meeting, minutes accepted as read.
Ron Santavicca read communications from Pete Mathews and Gladden Community House, the bills list and applications for membership.
Rocco Evangelista announced a Retirement Seminar will be presented at the hall February 7th. Representatives from USPS H.R. and Social Security will be on hand. Those interested in attending should sign up with their stewards. Trying to get representatives from Labor for February Stewards meeting, EEO in March and the RAA in April.
Chuck Sharp reported on the Retiree’s meeting.
Bob Solt reported that the benefit for Terry Bodfield raised approximately $4000. The results of the silent auction weren’t completed as yet, there were nice prizes and a good turn out.
Bill Pagano read the Treasurers report.
Doug Gulley reported they are still working on the National Agreement.
Trevor Payne, Webmaster, reported the JCAM supplements are available on the site.
There needs to be some investigation into whether there is racial bias in the discipline distribution in Westland.
Clerks got a 4.4% raise over a three year span; some in upgrades, some in COLA increases and 1.2% retroactive.
Discussion on success of One New Toy, showed the news coverage from Channel 6. Carl Demko secured two leather jackets that will be raffled off to raise additional funds for One New Toy 2002.
The State Association is having a legislative gathering a the Hyatt on Capital Square, February 12th. Dress to impress and plan to mingle with Legislators and discuss issues.
The George Meany dinner is scheduled for March 7th. Rocco make a motion that we purchase a table, seconded by Bill Pagano. Motion passed. Event will be at Villa Milano on Shrock Road.
Gary Porter would like info on Branch jackets. It will be posted either in the hall, bulletin or website.
Steward election will be held in February. This is not a reflection on those holding the position but a general election. If there are two or more people signed up, an election will be held.
