JANUARY 2006 BRANCH MEETING
Meeting called to order at 6:30 by President Evangelista, Invocation by Bill Zimmerman and Pledge led by Mike Holmes.
The regular order of business was suspended.
Michael Brennan, Volunteer and Community Relations Manager for the Y Family Center, addressed the body to explain about the center’s mission, gave a little history and described the new facility. His main goal was to personally thank the membership for their generous gift of toys for the children during Christmas and invite us to partner with them during the year to provide a meal for the families or volunteer in some other capacity.
Doug Gulley, Past President and Retired National Officer installed the new slate of Officers for Branch 78. President Rocco Evangelista, Vice President Bob Solt, Recording Secretary Ron Santavicca, Assistant Sescretary Yana Miller, Financial Secretary Treasurer Bill Pagano, EEO Officer Mike Iacoboni, Dir of Retirees Jack Levally, MBA Health Benefit Rep Bob Kirk and Trustees Carl Booth, Gary Boller, Carl Demko, Trevor Payne and Chuck Sharp. Regular order of business resumed.

Ron Santavicca read communications from Postal Employees Relief Fund, Earth Angels, Pete and Cindy Watkins, Mayor Coleman and Family, Gladden Community House, John Johnson, Ed Porter, Tony Russo, Br 68 Zanesville, Franklin County Children’s Services Holiday Wish Coordinator; the bills list and nine applications for membership. New member, Nathan Dent of Bexley, was present, given the oath and membership pin.
EDU Bob Solt made a motion that the Branch pay the registration fee for any member in good standing that attends the Route Inspection Seminar at the Blackwell, second by Y Miller and passed by the body.
HB Bob Kirk stressed the importance of selecting a PPO provider for insurance purposes.
PUB REL Tentative date for the Branch Picnic is 9/10, looking into some new locations.
The Golf Outing is scheduled for 8/20 at St Albans GC.
H&S Tony Snyder discussed the ongoing Street Ops and things they looking for like locked vehicles, set handbrakes and curb wheels. Discussion on use of passenger seat for parcels in the new minivans and cell phone usage by mgmt.
In depth discussion of harassment of employees in stations. Andy Curtis stated, “You are the Union” in response to some comments. Good point.
SOC REC Basketball tournaments will be coming so watch for signups and location and dates.
TREASURER’S REPORT read by Bill Pagano.
NEW BUSINESS
Bill Pagano read the 2006 proposed Budget. Dave Platt made a motion to accept it, second by Carl Demko, motion passed.
DOIS 2.0 1/11/96 3996 must be completed anytime you can’t make it in eight hours.
Discussed PDI (Pre Disciplinary Interviews) Get the Carrier’s version of the situation, make sure they know to request representation before meeting with Mgmt or Postal Inspectors.
IMPROVEMENT OF THE SERVICE
Randy Hartman discussed the Leadership Training.
Joan Nevels would have won $160. had she been present.
Carl Demko made a motion to send Bill Pagano and Ron Santavicca to the Secretary/ Treasurer seminar in Pittsburgh 3/9/06, second by Carl Booth. Motion passed.
Westland won $52 in the COLCPE drawing. Meeting adjourned at 8:33.
