November Branch Meeting 11/12/03

 

Meeting called to order at 6:33PM

There were no communications. Bills list read by Ron Santavicca. Five applications for membership: David Crawford, Reggie Falls, Darren Hawkins, David Hughes and Dan Levitt.

 

There was no report in Education.

 

Jack LeVally requested the motion before the Law Comm. be tabled.

 

Jack LeVally reported on the Retirees, he has sent $294. to COLCPE. Anyone with additional Retiree Dinner ticket money please get it to him.

 

Due to printing delays Health benefit Open Season is being extended to 12/29. Bob Kirk was presented a plaque from the National for 10 years as HB Rep.

Open season changes for should be made through Postalease.

 

Tony Snyder reported that there is no asbestos in Westland station according to the PO. Plus it takes 12-20 years for cancer to affect you from asbestos exposure. Because of damage and thefts to cars at Twin Rivers signs “UNDER SURVEILLANCE” are being posted. Northland needs reflective material put on the trash receptacle to prevent accidents. New boots/cleats should be in stations in the near future. Check new vans for inclusion of ACCIDENT KITS. The District Task Force to meet 11/19, the

Top priority issue will be slip/trip or fall accidents. Carl would like the asbestos reported to the National Safety Comm.

 

Tom Wilson reminded people to get more tickets for the stamp cachets and Bobby LaBonte jacket.

 

Bill Pagano read the Treasurer’s report.

 

RAA Doug Gulley spoke on ONT, thanked Eastland for $600. Contribution. Invited everyone to check out the NALC Health Plan. Reminder to donate to COLCPE and take advantage of the allotment available for donations. Probably no movement on Postal reform till after the elections in ’04. Watch for comments from National. Health benefit materials in front lobby of Main Office.

 

Randy Hartman discussed conference with Rep Oxley.

 

New Bus

Bill Pagano showed plaque honoring Mike Sargent that will go in the Conference Room. Also made a motion to purchase 2004 color coded calendars for active members, C. Demko second, motion passed.

 

Slifko suggested a seminar on DOIS be presented. 1 in 4 ASP’s wash out. PTF’s are still being sent out after dark it has been reported to Barker, Ruff and new PM. Advised again attempt if conditions unsafe go back and report it as such.

 

Doug Gulley made a motion to contribute $1000. Motion had not been submitted to Exec Bd for approval. Tom Wilson made a motion to spend $1000. for ONT second by Demko. Bd recommended approval. Motion passed. United Way motion tabled.

 

Discussion of station problems with John Easterday; Short North suffering harassment form Laqueda Cumberlander. Rocco giving PM till Friday then going to Gary McCurdy about the situation.1st Class mail being delayed at Gahanna on 3022 by Management. Called Postal Inspectors.

IMPROVEMENT OF THE SERVICE

 

UPS Basic being offered/advertised then they ship it USPS. DPS has been messed up lately.

 

GOOD OF SERVICE

 

Stewards must bring station roster to Stewards Mtg to p/u calendars. For members only! Not scabs or mgmt.

Trevor stated the uniforms are separated by sizes and available to anyone in need. Very little available in women’s but a few maternity pieces.

Has been investigating getting organizational plates from BMV, need a thousand signatures will contact other branches to participate.
