Regular Branch Meeting

I.  Minutes of September Meeting.  J. LeVally.  Approved as read.

 

II.  Secretary Reports.  R. Santavicca

  1.  Communications:  Thank you letters from K. Bethea.  MDA.

  2.  Bills List:  Trustees have approved.  No questions.  Bills are paid.

  3.  Applications for membership:  R. Banks, M. Jones, W. Ray.  All three admitted.

 

Recording secretary R. Santavicca presided over officer nominations.

Regular order of business suspended.  Nominations for Officers and Delegates for the years 2003-2005 were accepted.

All present were nominated for delegate.  Several declined and were recorded.  Those officers running unopposed were declared elected.

 

III.  Reports of Standing Committees

  1. Education: R. Evangelista.  A class is being planned on Advanced Steward Training.  A TV will be awarded to the winner of a drawing of those who have mailed ballots for the National Election.  Drawing will be held at the November meeting.  Question on the Inspection schedule.  Classes will be scheduled as needed.

  2. Law: R. Rapenport.  nothing submitted, no report.

  3. Retirees: Absent.  The Branch office is keeping in touch with Jack Welch and Howard Henry.  Both are hanging in there and would appreciate a call.

  4. Health Benefits: R. Kirk.  Health plan open season begins Nov.  Active rates are down a little.  Retiree rates small increase.  Best coverage best price.  Check it out.

  5. Public Relations: R. Solt.  No report.

  6. Safety/Health: T. Snyder.  New proposal for ID badges is being sent to district with carrier concerns noted.

  7. Social Rec: Y. Miller.  Skating party is planned for Dec. 11, 1pm - 4pm at the WOW Family Fun Center.  First 150 children skate rental fee will be paid.  Postal ID required for adults.

 

IV.  Treasurer Report: B. Pagano.  No questions.

 

V.  Regional Asst.: D. Gulley.  Don't forget to return your ballots in the National election.

 

VI.  Unfinished business: None.

 

VII.  New business: None.

 

VIII.  Good of the Association

  1.  Yana Miller. One New Toy.  Toys will be delivered to Gladden on 12/11, so get busy early.  Do your xmas shopping at Zany Brainy.  10% of purchases will be donated to Gladden.  Keep receipts.

  2.  Combined Federal Campaign is being conducted.  The Branch officers urge that you participate.  Postal relief fund is 9891 on the donation designation form.

  3.  Branch 78 in now under Article 12 in Columbus.  There are 8 full time routes excised.

  4.  Columbus Local Agreement has been extended 5 years to coincide with the National Agreement.  Some Associate Offices are still negotiating.

  5.  Motion: R. Evangelista.  Branch 78 will endorse Bill Cooke.  Endorsement will be placed on the website.  Second: C. Demko.  Discussion.  Passed without objection.

 

IX.  Improvement of the Service

  1. Plan 5 talks have been inaugurated.
