Regular Branch Meeting

October 8, 2003

 

Meeting called to order at 6:37 by Rocco Evangelista.

Invocation by Doug Sawyer.

Pledge led by Tom Wilson

 

Minutes of September 9 meeting read by Yana Miller.

 

Communications from Art Armstrong family, Mike De Passio family, Lisa Tharpe, MDA read by Ron Santavicca. Bills list read and approved.  There were three applications  for membership Ronald Leasure, Steven Hotel and Mary Ann Carter

 

Education:  Retirement seminar went well. Rocco and Bob Kirk to attend Health Benefit Seminar. Jack Levally appointed Director of Retirees, Yana Miller appointed Asst Secretary/ Editor and Gary Boller appointed Trustee.

 

Retirees: About two hundred attended Retiree Dinner. 50/50 won by Rocco Evangelista, who contributed winnings to COLCPE. Our guests were Fred Rolando, Bill Cooke and Dee Pannell. Please turn in any remaining dinner tickets and money to Jack Levally.

 

HBA: Bob Kirk New rates  Actives Self Only $29.76 Self/Fam $42.75 (bi-wkly) Retirees Self Only $111.98 Self/Fam $201.03 (mo).

Safety& Health: Tony Snyder, Maribeth Norman and Penny Lindsey went to Safety Training. Boots and new cleats will be supplied to those who request them and haven’t gotten them before. C. Demko, Westland has asbestos in he building, three people have died of cancer. What’s being done. Rocco stated he(Carl) should complete 1767 to start a paper trail. Trevor, are there replacement cleats. Tony, yes. Randy, are chains available. No because they haven’t found any suitable and no one wants to put them on vehicles.

 

Soc Rec: Valentine Dinner Dance 2/14/04 tickets $25 sin or $45 couple, at Best Western on 161 west of 71, full course meal, DJ and door prizes.

 

Treasurer’s report read by Bill Pagano.

 

RAA: Doug Gulley Wait for Pres. Young’s direction on Political Action. Postal Reform first and foremost.

Unfinished Bus: Demko, get  LaBonte tickets, P/u more or turn in money.

 

New Bus:

 

Bob Solt motion to send Rocco to COP 11/2-3/03 in Pittsburgh, PA., mileage, per diem and room. Tony Snyder second. Motion passed.

 

Improvement of the Service

 

Are any PTFs being made Regulars? Possibly there are four residual routes and four under maximization. Because of the swinging door PM there has been no answer on the PO providing refrigerators in the stations.

 

Ed Stewart reminded everyone to sign in on the Delegates Sheet.

 

Discussed AMSOP(Model Stations), 3849’s, Function Fours.

 

Complete the YOU CAN COUNT ON ME forms – Carriers, family and friends.

 

Start turning in 1767’s so there is a paper trail on station issues,  to fight the rash of safety related disciplines. Cover yourselves.

 

Announcement on ONE NEW TOY collections, raffle tickets available for LaBonte jacket and OSU Championship cachets.

 

Bob Solt on late delivery of express, there is no excuse if you can’t make it on time give it to the supervisor otherwise you’ll be written up and there is no defense if you didn’t put it back in their hands. Call Area Manager or Management.

 

Doug Gulley made a motion to adjourn at 7:48 pm. Randy Hartman won $37.50.
